Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Welcome to Lima

Upon your arrival at Lima airport a transfer will be waiting for you to take to your hotel.
You will have the rest of the day to explore the city on your own or relax at the hotel.

Day 2 – Lima Half Day City Tour with visit to Larco Museum

Today we will start with a stroll through the contemporary districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, visiting the esplanade which occupies a prime position, perched right on the clifftop, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Next, we turn inland and make for more local highlights including the leafy Parque el Olivar, and archaeological site of Huaca Pucllana. Then, we head to Lima’s colonial district by walking through the Plaza Mayor, which is lined with some of the most important monuments from the time: Government Palace and City Hall. This snapshot of the colonial period is rounded off with a visit to the Santo Domingo Convent, a religious and architectural gem. We’ll round off this city tour with a visit to the Larco Museum. This 18th century mansion, built on the ruins of an ancient pyramid, harbors the collections of gold and silver jewelry, masks, ceramics and vases to name a few, as well as an exhibition of erotic sculptures.

Gourmet Experience (Night Tour)

Discover Lima from a gastronomic point of view. We will begin our adventure in a luxurious restaurant located on the beach with spectacular views of the Lima coast. Here a professional bartender will share with us the secrets to prepare the perfect Pisco Sour and thus impress our friends when we return home. After this refreshing cocktail we will head to Amáz restaurant in search of the flavors of the Peruvian jungle. The next stop will be a classic restaurant among Lima, the prestigious Huaca Pucllana restaurant, located inside an archaeological complex with pre-Inca ruins. In this place we will enjoy a selection of Peruvian dishes with a gourmet touch and a pisco cocktail. To end the night, we will go to the Barranco neighborhood for a walk under the stars and enjoy a handmade gelato.

Day 3 – Travel from Lima to Arequipa

At the appropiate you Will have a transfer from the hotel to the airport.

Day 4 – Colca Canyon Experience (2 Days 1 Night)

Early in the morning, we will depart Arequipa to embark on a journey across a land of snow-covered volcanoes, inhospitable pampas, and incredibly beautiful quaint villages, arriving finally in the Colca Valley. Our first stop will be in the Aguada Blanca National Reserve, whose rugged plains are home to vast herds of Guanaco, Alpaca, and Vicuña. We will continue the journey as riding along the edge of the crater of the Chucura Volcano, until reaching the Mirador de los Andes (Lookout Point of the Andes) in Patapampa. This lookout point, at 16,100 ft (4,900 m) above sea level, will offer spectacular views of the snow-capped peaks of the various volcanoes surrounding Arequipa, including the Hualca Calca, the Sabancaya, and the Ampato. Next, we will head to the town of Chivay (close to where the Colca Valley begins) for a closer inspection of the impressive system of platforms and terraces built by the ancient Collagua and Cabana inhabitants. We will enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. We will have the rest of the afternoon free to take advantage of the hotel’s amenities, enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings, or simply rest and recover for the next day.

Day 5 – Travel from Colca Canyon to Puno

Next day, early in the morning, we will travel to the Mirador de la Cruz del Condor (Condor Cross Lookout). With its incredibly vast and breath-taking expanses, it is the best spot in the world to see the majestic Andean Condor in flight. Be on the lookout for the sudden appearance of this emblematic bird on the verge of extinction. With a little luck, we will enjoy a truly awe-inspiring experience as we watch this awesome bird soar, almost magically, ever higher into the infinite blue sky. From this vantage point, we will be able to look out across one of the world’s deepest canyons (13,650 feet [4,160 m] deep at the northern end and 11,800 feet [3,600 m] deep on its southern end). On the way back to Arequipa, we will stop to visit three great villages: Pinchollo Maca, Achoma, and Yanque. Two more must-see stops include the Miradores de Antahuilque (Lookout points of Antahuilque), where we will be able to appreciate the sheer magnitude of the region’s terraces, and Choquetico, with its hanging tombs and tiny irrigation models carved in stone. On Chivay, we would enjoy our lunch in a local restaurant, afterwards we depart to Puno.

Day 6 – Full Day Tour from Puno to Uros and Taquile Islands in Titicaca Lake

Today we will head to Puno’s port to board the boat that will take us to the floating islands of the Uros. The Uros, known as the water tribe, remain living on artificial totora islands after hundreds of years. They knew how to pick the abundant cane of existing totora and gather it in large quantities and then unite them to form small islands as platforms. Their homes and vessels are made of the same material. Then, we will board the boat to sail towards the natural island of Taquile. After arriving we will go to a local restaurant and will enjoy a typical lunch. At the end of the meal we will walk to the main square of the island and from there will enjoy a wonderful view of the Titicaca lake. Taquile is also well known for its craftwork, so we can visit an artisan center where the items that skilfully made by hand are displayed. In the afternoon we will go down to Taquile’s port to board the boat that will return us to Puno.

Day 7 – Route of the Sun from Puno to Cuzco

After breakfast you a transfer will take you from the hotel to the bus station.

Today we will depart from Puno to the city of Cusco. This beautiful route awaits to surprise us. We will visit the Pukara museum. During its heyday, this town covered more than a square kilometer and housed thousands of bureaucrats, priests, craftsmen, farmers, shepherds, and possibly warriors. Then we will head to La Raya and to a local restaurant. We will continue our tour until we reach Raqchi. The most important building within the complex is the Wiracocha temple. Architecturally it is classified as Kallanka, that is, a tall building completely covered with straw (wood and “ichu”). Externally it is 92 meters long and 25.25 meters wide. Finally, we will make a stop in Andahuaylillas town and its church, known as the Sistine Chapel of America for the quality of the art it houses. The sanctuary was built by the Jesuits in the 16th century on top of an Inca temple. The church is a small structure consisting of a single nave and the bell tower. We will finally arrive to the city of Puno.

Day 8 – Cuzco Half Day City Tour & Archeological Sites

Today we will visit to one of the most impressive buildings of Incan Cusco: the Qoricancha (the Golden Temple) – a temple dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, whose interior walls were said to have been covered in gold. Then, we will discover the Cathedral and admire its exquisite vestibules and priceless paintings from the Cusco School of the 17th and 18th centuries. Afterward, we begin the exploration to the nearby ruins: the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a colossal structure of enormous stones, carved and fitted together with incredible precision; Qenqo, the religious center; we will enjoy a panoramic view of Puca-Pucara, the red fortress and then we will visit Tambomachay with their water fountains.

Day 9 – Travel from Cuzco to Sacred Valley visiting Pisac Mark and Ollantaytambo

This morning, we will continue the trip toward the Sacred Valley, a few miles farther along, we will reach Pisac, a beautiful place where Incan and Colonial influences have reached a perfect balance and created the unique way of life of the local inhabitants. We will get a chance to explore this quaint town, famous for its artisan markets where we can find extraordinarily fine jewelry and ceramic and textile craftwork. We will also visit the archaeological site of Pisaq, an inca settlement that was built on row upon row of fine stone terraces, laid out on a natural balcony. Afterward, we will visit one of the last remaining Incan towns, Ollantaytambo, which was once fiercely guarded by a massive fortress. We will discover the large archaeological complex of what used to serve as a wayside inn for royal delegations on long journeys. Surviving structures here include multiple walls and towers that were used to protect the citadel from possible invasions.

Day 10 – Travel from Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary

We will pick you up from your hotel at the scheduled time and go to the train Station. The comfortable train ride from there to the station at Aguas Calientes is packed full of spectacular vistas. On our arrival, we will take a bus that will drop us at the admission fee to the citadel of Machu Picchu itself. Unearthed for modernity by Hiram Bingham more than a century ago, Machu Picchu is considered one of the seven wonders of the world. Its architectural beauty, spectacular natural setting, and the energy that radiates from its enigmatic buildings will take your breath away. We will follow in the footsteps of the ancient Incas as we take a tour of the magical citadel led by one of our guides. Finally, we will return to Aguas Calientes train station and catch the train back. Upon arrival, private transfer to the selected hotel.

Day 11 – Travel from Machu Picchu to Cuzco by train

 At the appropriate time you will take Vistadome train back to Cusco. Upon your arrival to Ollantaytambo a transfer will be waiting for you to take to the hotel in Cuzco.

Day 12 – Bye Bye Cuzo!
